Hay Lin and Cornelia definitely got the short end of the stick in terms of characterization in season 1. Thankfully, they improve by season 2. I think the only ones who really improved in the adaptation are Caleb, by virtue of becoming a main character, and Irma, who right now in the comics is kind of comic relief but in the cartoon was the enforcer from the start.
