That Paradise Lost stuff could have been interesting... if it was actually a major part of the movie. It's completely inexplicable in its shortened version in the movie.
Ugggh... you just reminded me of how much I dislike Ryo Akiyama. He shows up right the hell out of nowhere from the Wonderswan games, does a bunch of stuff, and really doesn't tie into the plot much at all other than inexplicably being pushed as a pair with Rika/Ruki. Not that I'm probably remembering this 100% clearly, because the last time I saw Tamers all the way through was seven years ago. (I actually just started rewatching it last week with a friend who had never seen it. Dub, because it's what I'm used to and its flaws are made up for by the most hilarious incidental dialogue ever.)
Also, that reminded me - your Ryuki fanfic - specifically, the ones with Ren and Death playing chess and the ones with Eri dealing with Ren in a post-series timeline are excellent and how I found you in the first place.
