Okay, so I have read the synopses of tri and Kizuna, and all I can think is "Wow, they're really trying to make the infamous '25 years later' epilogue from 02 look better by comparison."

I'm honestly failing to find anything in the plots that I read that sounds anything like the show as it aired in 1999. And I refuse to dishonor fanfic by calling it "a bad fanfic version."

I'm so glad I got sick enough of the fandom that I just didn't bother to watch past, like, I forget what part of tri. Seems like catching up would be a giant waste of time.

Yeah, it all sounds OOC and like nobody bothered to watch any of the shows. I also don't know why they replaced the entire Japanese cast? While I like some of the actors, I don't think they're a good fit for the characters.

I almost always assume that things like tri/Kizuna are a cash grab meant to feed off the nostalgia of kids who watched the original shows and are now grown up enough to spend a lot of money on their faves.

Replacing the cast, I think, is probably just because either a lot of the originals moved on or just retired outright. I know Wada Kouji is, uh, not available for singing anymore.

Yeah, definitely. Considering how cynical these things end up sounding.

That's true, but since Sailor Moon Crystal I've been pretty cynical about a lot of the recasting, especially since so many of the voices just do not seem to go well with the characters. In Sailor Moon's case, the original cast was blindsided when only Usagi's voice actress was asked to come back; meanwhile Cardcaptor Sakura had its revival and brought back its original cast.

What really sucks with Digimon is that just over the years you see the heart go out of it. In the beginning, even when it wasn't really good, it was still endearing. Now, there's not even that sense when it's good.
