From Kings back to Princes.
Chapter 3: Storm
Summary: Ken's seventh birthday is spent hiding from a dangerous enemy in the heart of a storm.
AO3 FFN
I think I may have one more chapter left in me, with Ken putting all the pieces together, but I'm not going to worry too much about it now. I have Riders and Sailor Senshi doing stuff in my brain right now.

Re: Princes of the Universe
May. 28th, 2014 10:00 pmYeah, just deleted the two chapters I wrote for it. I figured I'd do a combination of Ken and Devlin shorts detailing their childhoods, but honestly? I can't. Devlin implies enough abuse in canon that I can't write anything too detailed without triggering myself.
So yeah. I'll do "Destiny's Play" and "Journey through the Decayed," but I'm promising myself right now that I will never write about Devlin's childhood. Ever.
'Cause the second I deleted those fics, I felt a massive weight off my chest. And I know they were well-written--it was just too triggery knowing that these things existed. I can't do that to myself.

Challenge to self
May. 28th, 2014 02:23 pmFuck it.
Within this year and the middle part of next, I will finish my Ben 10 fics.
The list:
"Princes of the Universe":4 chapters planned, part of "The Theory of Everything."
"Destiny's Play": Unknown number of chapters, also part of "ToE."
"Journey through the Decayed": As many chapters as I can manage, final part of "ToE."
"Derailed": As many chapters as I can manage.
I'm not going to prolong this torture anymore. No matter how much the disillusionment hurts, I'm drawing into all of my former love of the series, even though I'm going to have to rely on a LOT of Queen and Kamen Rider, and I'm going to end it.
No more excuses. I'm ripping off this bandaid.
Edit: After writing up two of the planned chapters for "Princes of the Universe," I've deleted one of them. There are reasons I don't write Devlin's childhood, and it's the triggers. I might keep one and post it as a standalone sequel. It's a hell of a jump, but honestly, that's what I have to do. The rest is just too awful to consider.

Destiny's Play
Feb. 12th, 2014 08:42 pmFigured as long as I'm posting snippets of fics that may or may not happen, I should put up what I have for the next Theory of Everything fic, which is in serious development hell. To be honest, now that I've written "Princes of the Universe," a lot of this is going to end up deleted and rewritten, so I might as well put it up for posterity.

Futureverse rambling
Dec. 14th, 2013 12:08 amMy day at work was awful. But my brother is home, and he and I hope to see the meteor shower tonight.
In the meantime, random background stuff I don't know if I'll be able to fit into the "Theory of Everything" universe:

Princes of the Universe
Nov. 23rd, 2013 10:12 pmI actually didn't expect to write this one, but I guess the excitement of "The Day of the Doctor" got to me enough to add a bridge-fic for the ToE-verse.
The Theory of Everything
Princes of the Universe
Summary: A very young Ken meets Paradox the night of his fourth birthday, while his parents are fighting.

ToE epilogue
Oct. 10th, 2010 01:24 pmToday is Ben 10 Day, and by complete coincidence (no, seriously, it is a coincidence), it runs into the posting schedule for the finale of "The Theory of Everything."
Epilogue: A Boundless Life
Summary: Life returns to normal between the timelines, but there are changes that everyone has to be willing to make and chances at trust and forgiveness they need to take.
Before I get into the alt version, I figured I should probably put up a soundtrack of sorts for ToE--the songs I'd listened to that had inspired portions of the fic, in rough order.
Devlin's theme: Peak by Dayplayer
Gwendolyn's mystery: Grissom's Overture by John M. Keane (from CSI)
Charmcaster attacks, Ben falls: This is War by 30 Seconds to Mars
Guilt: Cold Reminder by Dayplayer
Ken's investigation: Investigation Suite by John M. Keane (from CSI)
Battle with Charmcaster (past): Alive a Life by Rica Matsumoto (from Kamen Rider Ryuki)
The secret of the locket/Epilogue alternative: Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie
Trusting Gwen: Hey Jude by the Beatles.
Redemption of the sons: Our Whole Lives Tonight by Eyeshine
Vivere/Trusting Gwen alternative: Let it Be by the Beatles
The final battle: Hatenaki Inochi (A Boundless Life) by Hiroshi Kitadani (from Kamen Rider Ryuki)
General theme/Epilogue: Stay The Ride Alive by Gackt (from Kamen Rider Decade)

First off, I picked up Avatar: The Last Airbender on Amazon today (starting to miss the days when I could just call it Avatar, before James Cameron made everything confusing). It's $.50 more than it was the last time I saw, but two quarters isn't going to make a huge difference.
Second, I've finally gotten the PSP back from my brother. Still leveling up--I'm at 40, and I want to get to 45 before I face the boss. Mirage Arena time.
Third, I would like to apologize to Judd Lynn for this, the next chapter of "The Theory of Everything":
Chapter Six: The Secret of the Locket
Summary: Both Devlin and Gwen learn the truth of the lockets, shattering their worlds. And yet, this might be what they need to learn to trust one another.
( Seriously, they're not Andros and Karone. Or Dillon and Tenaya for that matter )

Note to self: I really have to learn how to make music videos and do one for AF/UA to "Under Pressure."
The Theory of Everything
Chapter Five: Under Pressure
Summary: As Charmcaster attacks, Devlin's forced to realize that Ben, Kevin, and Gwen are not the people he remembers, and Ben gets Gwen wondering about their mysterious visitor. And Devlin wonders why Gwen's locket looks so familiar...
( It's the terror of knowing what this world is about )

The Theory of Everything
Chapter Four: Worlds Enough and Time
Summary: In the new timeline, Devlin finds himself face-to-face with teenage versions of Ben, Gwen, and even Kevin, and none of them are the way he remembers. And while Devlin tries to get the Archamada, Ken realizes they're missing a very important piece of the puzzle.

The Theory of Everything: Prologue
Aug. 13th, 2010 09:55 pmIcon is oddly appropriate. I swear, it's got a little bit of every multichapter I've ever written.
Title: The Theory of Everything
Fandom: Ben 10 ("Ken 10"/Futureverse)
Rated: T
Summary: A mistake in battle leads Devlin far from home, where his only hope for success is to challenge every truth he's taken for granted and learn to trust those he hates, and most of all, himself.
