Yeah, Tendo is such a gigantic unlikeable dick it's just amazing. And to make it worse, the series seems to go along with him, and his ridiculous unstoppableness ruins any fun in it, and he's not even overpowered in a showy or interesting way. Uggh, the only way I managed to get through Kabuto was appreciating it in a bad movie so-bad-it's-good sort of way most of the time. I take it from your reaction you're less of the type to enjoy something for that reason? (Hell, half the reason the Hopper Brothers are one of my favorite things in Kabuto is it's so goddamn ridiculously bad of an idea it's amazing they went with it.) I'd rather watch a good series, but I can make do with an amazingly bad one. At least it's not boring.

Tsurugi worked better for me, but I can kind of accept that while he's a fake, the feelings he and others have involving him are real. It's not great, but it's the best thing the series can pull off.

ZECT's inability to control anything is pretty mindboggling. Let's see, out of the list of Zecters we have:
Kabuto: Not under their control in the slightest.
TheBee: Lamest Rider, under their control.
Drake: Not under their control... or in the story anymore, mostly
Sasword: They fired it. For some reason. And even then, he was just a contractor.
Gatack: Theoretically works for them, but will disregard orders a good chunk of the time, because THEY ARE DUMB.
KickHopper (and later PunchHopper): Hahahahaha no.

Having a shadowy and mysterious organization controlling the Riders only works if MOST OF THE RIDERS ARE UNDER THEIR CONTROL.

Also, if you hate ZECT, you should probably not watch Black - the villanous organization from Black, Golgom, is just... completely nonsensical. The average Golgom plot is something like: We're going to have the Buffalo Mutant posess a random small girl, giving her superstrength, and then it will rampage. The adults will be given inadequacy issues because a young girl has such strength, blurring the lines between adults and children, until one of them will kill the girl due to these issues. At which point, because an adult has hurt a small child, NO-ONE WILL TRUST ANYONE EVER AGAIN AND SOCIETY WILL CRUMBLE! Thus, we will build the EMPIRE OF GOLGOM on its ruins! (Plus, we have the High Priest's amazing ability to shoot lightning, miss Black, hit a wall in their own base, and the base suddenly starts exploding. This happens a half-dozen times in the series, I swear.) I know it's Showa era... but I've seen Amazon. While Amazon's villains were hardly geniuses, their plans at least could possibly work in the slightest sense.

In a tangential thing to the mention of Faiz, I've been watching an anime series Yasuko Kobayashi wrote called Blassreiter. While so far (six episodes in) it's not that great, if watchable, there's one amusing thing: One of the characters, Gerd Frentzen, is basically given the exact same type of opening plot as Yuji Kiba in Faiz only he handles it much, much worse. The series is basically violent anime Kamen Rider while it's at it - we've got people transforming into superhuman forms while riding over-the-top motorcycles and fighting monsters that were converted from humans.
