Ultraman Leo "fashion"
Jan. 4th, 2021 04:37 pmI was going off on plurk about the uniforms in Ultraman Leo and how ugly they are, and suddenly plurk stopped working.
That's right, Leo's costumes are so bad they broke plurk.
There's the magic for Dreamwidth, since I couldn't finish:
So, stripped-down, it's honestly not that bad. Orange is very much a classic color for Ultra, and the little bit of silver doesn't clash too badly. There is a separate uniform for the women that consists of a dress and a poofy beret, and it's not that bad, but I honestly would prefer having it as an overall noncombatant uniform, with pants as an option.
But no, we rarely see the stripped-down version. We usually see the combat-ready version.
So now, we add a sparkly silver leotard over the uniform because...I don't know. With...pen holders? I thought maybe they were for capsules to reload their laser guns, but I don't know? I think Dan might have had some kind of weapons attachment for his cane (yes, that's a thing this season) in there but I don't remember?
Also, yes. The helmet has these bizarre little curls and Kamen Rider eyes. In fact, there is SUCH a resemblance to Kamen Rider Garren that if you told me that he was completely designed based off the MAC uniform, I would believe you. I would just want to know WHY.
So the side of the helmet has the MAC logo, which wouldn't look too bad, except that to make the design symmetrical, they literally flip the logo so that it's reversed on the other side. Also there is an alternative logo on the sleeve and I do not know why they have two logos.
Oh, and every combat officer is numbered. There's such a high turn-over because of people getting killed (it is a cast full of red shirts) that the only ones that really matter are #1, Captain Dan Moroboshi, and #7, Gen Ohtori.
That's right. Ultra Seven, Dan Moroboshi, went and wrote his damn name on Gen and made fucking sure the ENTIRE WORLD could see it. Leo officially belongs to Seven.
And yet Jugglus buttgrab Juggler is the captain we need to worry about.
