So in yet another thing where I'm just...unnerved by the way Ultraman Connection seems way too close to the fans, I think I've identified a reason why their analyses just rub me the wrong way.
It's not that the character interpretations or identifications of series themes are bad. It's just that being part of fandom means that you are supposed to disagree on these things.
But when you are a fan posting this kind of analysis on an official site, it adds more weight to your analysis and upends the fragile, democratic nature of fandom. Because now "canon" has put its seal of approval on what you say, so now if someone doesn't agree with your interpretation or thinks you missed a theme, that just makes their viewpoint more heretical, so to speak.
The more the line between "company" and "fans" is blurred, the worse it will always be for the fans.
