Yeah, it just keeps getting worse from here. I miss the lack of detailed snark and analysis, although I understand why you would be too fed up to go through with it.
Also, on another note - going to have to wait until the finale is translated (the RAW is out, but OT hasn't gotten to it yet), but the end of Wizard has the single most hilariously blatant ripoff of one of the plot aspects of Ryuki ever. Only the villain who's doing part of Shirou Kanzaki's schtick wishes he was as likeable and sympathetic as Shirou is... and that's not saying much about Shirou.
Why am I trying to watch this show sober? I finished my tea and then stared at the empty cup in depression. And god, the Perfect Zecter--it looks like it's a Den-O weapon they wanted to use and were told, "Nope, we need to sell one more toy for Kabuto!"
Tendou is less sympathetic and less incestual than Kanzaki, and that's not saying much about Kanzaki.
The Perfect Zecter is the RPM Ultrazord of swords - hilariously overcomplicated and ungainly looking. (Mind you, one of my problems with RPM is that all the mecha fight scenes kind of suck. It's a limitation of the Go-Onger footage, but still...)
So, learned of the horrors that is the sheer lameness of Hyper Kabuto fight scenes in the series?
I actually don't mind that part, if only because I always found the Megazord battles boring. I have the utmost respect for the suit actors doing that, but...the suits are way too clunky for an interesting fight, in my opinion. I'll probably do better in the future when I start on the Ultraman franchise.
I've gotten to the point where I'm just doing something else during the fight scenes. And moaning. And then the Hopper Bros come on screen and then I'm LOUDLY complaining that I don't fucking care.
Yeah, the only Sentai/Power Rangers series I've actually watched all the way through are Power Rangers in Space, RPM, and Gobusters. Gobusters made me instantly fall in love with the series in part due to its giant robot fights being actually dynamic. (Except for when Gobuster King/Oh (the first one, depending on whether it's dub/T-N/OT) is introduced briefly. Those sucked at first.) I tried watching Shinkenger, and the stiffness and waste of time that the robot fights were in it drove me off the series.
The Hopper Bros are so ridiculously bad of a plot idea it was actually the most engaged I was during the last fifteen episoes was to watch them in morbid facination. Admittedly, I'm a huge fan of watching enjoyably bad movies, so...
