Oh god, another weekend of playing catchup

Event at the park last night. Meeting this afternoon. Work in 5 minutes. I'm so tired, it's not funny. Whose brilliant idea was it to set an event celebrating afterschool programs on a school night?

And there's new Korra tonight and new Gaim and Agito out. Much as the last of the three has become significantly less painful to watch, I'm really tired and would like a nap. Please be an easy weekend.

The new Gaim (episode 2) is really good. And has an opening set of scenes that are completely hilarious.

Out of curiosity, which set of Gaim subs are you following? Aesir or TV-N? (Watching Aesir myself, not in the least because I'm impatient and want to watch it earlier.)

I'm not sure yet, to be honest. I really don't have time to watch it except on Fridays or Mondays, so it doesn't really matter. I know Aesir is connected to O-T, and while I liked their sub of Fourze, I wasn't fond of some of their later subs, and seeing how thoroughly they hated Smile Precure yet continued on subbing it while complaining through it...I can sympathize given other stuff I've seen (haven't watched Precure) and stuck with regardless, but there's really a point where unless you've got money or something on the line, you've got to stop and go on to something else.

Aesir's sub group for Gaim is basically Magenta (the translators who did Gobusters for O-T) releasing with a different group since everyone else took a pass on Gaim at O-T, including their usual translator, HeatMetal.

Eh, while I can see bowing out on a series, especially when someone else is subbing it, once you're ten or fifteen episodes away from the end it makes sense to finish just while you're close enough that you're already over 2/3 of the way there. It would suck, though.

About the only thing O-T did that annoyed me with one of their subs was the "Brotou" nickname for OOO. I found it kind of irritating. Everything else has been decent, although the Gobuster Oh fiasco with Gobusters was just hilarious.

They seemed to hate the whole thing from start to finish. I mean, even when I was watching Kabuto, I at least enjoyed the first half.

O-T got me with their Wizard subs in the episode with the Cait Sith Phantom--which was already an uncomfortable subject made worse. And Go-Busters began to grate on me for reasons I'll explain more when I get to the review. But the Go-Buster Oh thing is a perfect example: I had no problem with them translating it to "King." But when you find out that Go-Buster King is the name of a new mech? At least have the grace to apologize and say, "Well, who could have seen THAT coming?" and change it. Don't go and use "Oh" in place of "King." It's stupid, and it makes you look bad.

Man, I hated the first half of Kabuto apart from riffing on it with a friend, which is what made it totally worth watching. It got watchable for me when Gatack showed up for a few episodes, though.

On the Cait Sith thing, I mostly have forgotten that one at this point. I'd have to look into it more before I felt comfortable talking about it.

*shrug* I dunno. I felt like keeping continuity with the previous subs made sense at least until a v2 of the subs with the Go-Buster Oh thing. Plus, it lines up well with part of it being the Lion-Oh buster machine. Magenta's also apologized on her blog about making Jin Masato come off as kind of a jerk, which probably explains a lot about my reaction to him, come to think of it...

Yeah, I'll get more into the differences between the subs when I get to the review. O-T's wasn't terrible, but there were some things that really didn't come across well, or...well, were lost in translation.
