I'd draw a comparison to the Cadmus arc of JLU, but even THEIR crazy person had a damn good reason behind what he was doing, and it was STILL less crazy than this: Kill Luthor because 99 times out of 10, it's his fault anyway

I'm going to be honest--this is my problem with Bananaman so far
I don't know if it's acting or writing or subbing or WHAT but his jerk moments far outweigh his decent guy moments. And this is coming from someone who despised Kabuto: Tendou did better. Far better

Kaito has a tragic backstory, but he fucks up his sympathy points by just being an utter douche to everyone who walks past. He threatens to attack civilians. He backstabs whenever possible. He's SHOCKED when people backstab him. He treats a game of Pokemon WAY too fucking seriously, and he acts like a warlord without realizing that if a real warlord acted this way, he'd have been stabbed long ago
If he's supposed to be sympathetic, SHOW IT MORE
Let him DO things that are sympathetic
Stuff like the kid in the tree. Yes, he was a dick about it. But he did in fact save the kid and told him "Now you know you can take care of yourself." That was a good bit of characterization
I mean, I can see where some of the past Riders are that are trying to come into play here, but unfortunately? I'm seeing Gai from Ryuki but less entertaining and a FAR less awful (and still less entertaining to watch ham it up) Kusaka from Faiz

But it's less they're playing him and more he's stringing the violin himself and providing the bow, and so they hire a violinist
Oh yeah, Micchi is the best. He's got EXACTLY what Kaito lacks
He's got the ruthlessness, but compassion as well. And the conflict between them
When he fails to henshin in 12, it's a moral failing and it WORKS
Because he's someone who's STILL LEARNING

Micchi has had people impressing their goals and hopes and dreams on him for all of his life. So when he wants his freedom, he's SCARED to give it up, even if he has the best intentions in mind

And BOTH philosophies are flawed. Gen Urobutchi is a Kobayashi fan. He's probably going to stick to the idea that giving up all your desires for someone else is unhealthy. Just as much as trying to hold onto your freedom and letting others get hurt because of it

DANGEROUS as their favorite Rider of the series. ...except my sister who has an immense fangirl thing for Micchy. Personally, I was a Jounouchi and Hassy fan... which does not look like a great long term proposition. I dig Takatora though - he's interesting.
