In Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy, some details are shoehorned into Belial's backstory. Namely that he had a thing for Mother of Ultra and that may have contributed to his fall from grace.
So let me get this straight.
You have three great heroes who are to shape the fate of the world, following a terrible war, two men and one woman.
One of them has a disagreement with the others and then notices that they're getting a lot closer together, despite his feelings for the woman.
In a moment of weakness, feeling that he has been betrayed, this man is overtaken by the power of a terrible dictator who once ruled the world and threatened to destroy it. The remnant's power doesn't control him, per se, but it does help bring out his darkness and he forsakes anything he may have previously fought for in order to seize power for himself, bringing him into a clash with his former friends.
The difference is that Cherubimon from Digimon Frontier may have actually had better reasons to be paranoid at first?
Also, if Belial's new backstory details are Frontier, then that means Kei Fukuide's novels are "Yang-Yin." I want my residuals, asshole.
